José Padilha's new film "Tri-Border" rivals Bigelow's "Triple Frontier"

The blog Film says that Elite Squad director José Padilha is working on a project set on the triple frontier of Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. It's a cop film about an American DEA agent trying to navigate the multiple police systems in an area know for drug trafficking and smugglers in general.

The Hurt Locker's director Kathryn Bigelow is also working on a film set in the same area.

Padilha was also hired to direct the next Robocop. 

It's likely that only one of the triple frontier projects will happen. So it's sort of a race now, but it'd probably a more interesting movie if the Brazilian director tackles it!
